Our Philosophy

Your complexity
belongs
here

Therapy here begins with a safe space where every part of you is welcome without editing or explanation. Together, we explore your inner world with curiosity and without judgment.

This practice was built specifically for Asian American professionals and the larger BIPOC community in New York navigating lives that are full, complex, and often underserved by mainstream mental health care. This is a neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming space.

Sessions are exclusively via telehealth, with evening availability designed around the reality of your schedule.

Our Approach

Structured, reflective,
and honest

Josie works with intention and structure. Each session is purposeful, honest, and grounded in where you are. That means asking real questions, sitting with difficult truths, and tracking patterns over time. The work is reflective without being passive, and direct without being prescriptive.

Josie draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, shaped by what each individual client needs.

Multicultural Counseling

Therapy that actively honors your racial, ethnic, and cultural background as central to who you are.

Relational-Cultural Therapy

An approach rooted in the idea that healthy relationships, including the one between you and your therapist, are core to healing and growth.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Exploring how patterns from your past shape how you feel and behave today. This includes family dynamics, early experiences, and unconscious beliefs that show up in the present.

Trauma-Informed Care

Care that recognizes how trauma, including racial and intergenerational trauma, lives in both the body and the mind. Safety and stabilization are central to the work.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Practical tools for identifying and shifting thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, or stress.

Mindfulness-Based Approaches

Drawing on present-moment awareness to help you slow down, observe your experience with less judgment, and build a steadier relationship with yourself.

Josie Rhee

Licensed Mental Health Counselor · New York · License #016946

Josie is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who earned her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and her B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Tech.

As a Korean-American and child of immigrants, Josie brings both lived experience and clinical expertise to her work with people of color. She understands firsthand what it means to navigate multiple cultural worlds, and how that shapes the way you relate to yourself, your family, and the spaces you move through. This understanding is the foundation of her practice.

Josie came into this work after experiencing therapy where she didn't have to code-switch or separate parts of herself to be understood. That experience is at the heart of how she creates space for the full complexity of who you are.
